Founder and CEO of Spivey & Company, John Spivey, has more than 25 years of experience in executive leadership and entrepreneurial ventures in technology and healthcare. He takes a hands-on approach to management and is keen on diagnosing and solving critical business communication and technology application dilemmas. He enjoys leading and inspiring diverse teams on complex projects.
Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in founding several healthcare ventures, including Bladder Health Network, Sigma Health Ventures, EngageDX, Constance Ventures, Availiant Healthcare Strategies, Kallaco, and HealthSherpa, some of which are highlighted here.

Kallaco is a comprehensive platform that provides HR departments and universities with employee and student health monitoring so they can move confidently in a world of uncertainty. Through an integrated national laboratory network, the platform offers critical efficiencies to track, monitor, and maintain employee and student health.
He is also the founder and CEO of Availiant Healthcare Strategies, LLC, in New Orleans, a full-service management consulting firm focused on providing technology solutions that improve healthcare delivery and efficiency. Through John and his team’s experienced advisory services, demonstrated performance improvement solutions, and knowledgeable healthcare consulting, Availiant helps clients transform toward increased efficiency, sustainable growth, and cost control within their specific healthcare discipline.
John Spivey’s First Business Venture
In 1995, at 25, John formed his first venture, Vention, Inc., and grew the company to one of the largest e-business application development shops in the southeast, with over 250 employees. The company focused on designing and implementing custom software systems for legacy automation and process improvement within the healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, and retail markets. Just two years after he started Vention, he was voted “Top 40 Under 40” by the Mississippi Business Journal, an award recognizing the top forty business leaders in the state under forty.
After Vention, he served as President/CEO of Brighter Health Network based in Jackson, Mississippi. The integrated healthcare services company provided software, services, and products to improve the delivery of pelvic health diagnostics and procedures for OB-GYN and urology offices across the United States.
He later served in CIO Consulting roles for healthcare firms specializing in pharmacogenomics, toxicology, and next-generation sequencing technologies. He was instrumental in building significant expertise in laboratory process management, systems integration, portal solutions, and genomic storage strategies. John also managed the implementation of various IRB-approved research registries with comprehensive management, BI, and data mining tools.
An Accomplished Guest Speaker
His talents, expertise, and experience are sought after on the guest speaker circuit. He has been a guest lecturer on various e-business-related topics for conferences, companies, and industry organizations, including at the Steering Committee and Officer Nominating Committee for the Computer and Information Technology (CIT) Cluster Organization, founded to create partnerships and synergies between technology companies throughout the state of Mississippi.

John earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Mississippi and received his doctorate from the University of Kansas.
A Strong Faith Helps Guide John and His Wife
John and his wife Olga have been married for 34 years, have four children, and reside in New Orleans. He feels fortunate to have two of his children working with him at the companies he created.
John loves to play golf, which is a lifelong passion. He also enjoys exercising regularly, encouraged by his wife as an outlet after the untimely loss of their son at the age of 27. Olga and John are known in the city as a couple who walk together everywhere.
Their strong faith also guides the couple, and they are very involved in the Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. They love their church for its service-forward approach to the needs of the New Orleans communities. They donate regularly to the church and several other ministry organizations across the country, a consistent part of their faith practice throughout their decades-long marriage.
